Tottenham officially confirm the departure of first-team squad player

Tottenham have now officially confirmed the departure of first-team squad goalkeeper, Pierluigi Gollini as his loan spell from Atalanta comes to an end.

The shot-stopped made 10 appearances across the 2021/22 season, coming in the Europa Conference League and cup competitions, although he never featured in the Premier League.

Fabrizio Romano reported this week that Tottenham have fully completed the signing of Fraser Forster on a free transfer following the conclusion of his contract with Southampton.

Football Insider reported the same thing last week, while adding that Forster had even taken a wage cut from the £100,000 per week he earned with the Saints to join Spurs.

Alasdair Gold claimed on his YouTube Channel (starting at 24:36) recently that Spurs may not actually announce Forster until July, once his contract with Southampton officially ends.

All of this made it unlikely that Spurs would take up their option to sign Gollini permanently (The Guardian), as they seem a cost-efficient and homegrown Hugo Lloris understudy.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Gollini was always going to be heading back to Atalanta this summer, but he clearly made a big impression on the Tottenham squad. He seemed like a great guy to have around the place and we wish him all the luck for the future.
