Tottenham officially confirm the signing of highly-rated 18-year-old midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur have officially confirmed the signing of Swedish starlet Lucas Bergvall, who has completed a switch to the club from Djurgardens on a contract that runs until 2029.

Bergvall has had an extraordinary rise over the last six months since leaving Brommapojkarna in the Swedish second tier to join Djurgardens last summer and will remain at the club for the next 6 months.

Tottenham sign Lucas Bergvall

The midfielder instantly broke into the club’s first team and established himself as the mainstay in their starting eleven. He turned quite a lot of heads with his performances and even won his first cap for the Swedish national team last month in their friendly against Estonia.

That convinced Tottenham to swoop for the 18-year-old, who is expected to go straight into Ange Postecoglou’s first-team when he arrives in July.

Spurs have confirmed that Bergvall has signed a new five-year deal at the club and they will be hoping that he is the latest in a line of young players who have developed into stars under the Australian coach.

Bergvall is unlikely to get too many first-team opportunities to start with next season but the experience of working with top players on a daily basis at Spurs would do wonders for his development. The presence of Kulusevski at Tottenham should help the youngster settle in quickly into his new surroundings.
