Tottenham officially confirm their third signing of the summer

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of Cristian Romero from Atalanta.

The central defender has put pen to paper on a five-year contract until 2026.

Romero was spotted yesterday boarding a flight to London and even took to his Instagram story to reveal his destination.

Manchester United were also linked with a move for the 23-year-old earlier in the summer (Sky Sports), only for Tottenham’s new managing director of football, Fabio Paratici to intensify discussions with the Serie A outfit.

Toby Alderweireld completed his exit from North London last month after six years at the club when he made the move to Qatari outfit Al-Duhail.

Romero becomes Tottenham’s third signing of the summer, following in the footsteps of Bryan Gil and Pierluigi Gollini.

Tottenham finally have their man in what has been one of the longest transfer sagas in the club’s recent history.

Are we starting to see the impact of Fabio Paratici? In previous years, we have always ended up with ‘nearly’ signings – just look at Milan Skriniar and Paulo Dybala. However, on this occasion, we have actually ended up with a quality defender who will substantially improve our back four.
