Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs leading the race for a manager who has won six trophies in the last four years, but they face competition from Premier League rivals who are also looking to make a managerial change in the summer.
It would not be an exaggeration to say that Ange Postecoglou’s job at Tottenham is hanging by a thread. Elimination from the Europa League against Alkmaar on Thursday would serve as a serious dent to the Australian’s hopes of remaining in the job next season.
Over recent months, a number of outlets have revealed that Premier League bosses such as Andoni Iraola and Thomas Frank are the leading contenders to replace Postecoglou if Spurs do decide to make a change in the dugout.
However, a report from Italy has now suggested that the Lilywhites are turning their attention to a coach who has had a lot of success in Serie A over recent years.

Tottenham could battle Man United for Simone Inzaghi
This update comes from TuttoSport, who say that Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi has emerged as a target for Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the summer.
The 48-year-old, who guided Inter to the scudetto last term and took them to the Champions League final the season before, is said to be of interest to Spurs as well as Manchester United.
It is pointed out that Inzaghi’s current deal at the San Siro runs out in 2026, which is why the two Premier League clubs are keeping an eye on his situation.
Spurs and the Red Devils are the ‘first and foremost’ clubs who are ready to poach the former Lazio boss this summer, but others could also enter the race this summer.
The publication adds that the Nerazzurri have not given up hope of tying down Inzaghi to a new deal over the coming months.
Why Inzagi may not be a good fit for Spurs
We know that Inzagi is extremely wedded to playing three at the back, just like Antonio Conte was, although there are differences between the tactical approaches of the two Italian coaches.
We have seen very little evidence to suggest that three at the back can work in the Premier League right now, with Ruben Amorim’s struggles at Man Utd serving as a cautionary tale.
If Tottenham do decide to move on from Postecoglou, they would likely want to turn to a coach who has a proven track record in the English topflight rather than taking a gamble on someone like Inzaghi.
