One AS Roma star who impressed at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday could have ended up at Spurs back in the summer.

Roma striker leads the line impressively
Roma gave a decent account of themselves against Spurs on Thursday, playing their part in an exciting game that ended 2-2.
Artem Dovbyk led the line impressively for the Serie A club, playing all 90 minutes and even having the ball in the back of the net at the start of the second half, only for it to be ruled out for offside.
That was one of three different instances were the away side thought they scored, only for the offside flag to go up.

Artem Dovbyk could have joined Tottenham
Interstingly, Corriere dello Sport have revealed that the Ukrainian could have ended up at Spurs back in the summer, with the North London club thought to have shown an interest in signing him from Girona.
However, it is revealed that the Lilywhites refused to meet Girona’s asking price of €40m (£33.2m), with the club deciding to sign Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth instead.
That opened the door for Giallarossi, who swooped for the 27-year-old ahead of the season.

Tottenham will not regret their decision
Dovbyk has had a decent start to his time at Stadio Olimpico, having found the back of the net six times across all competitions so far this season.
However, Spurs will be happy with how Solanke has done since his move, with Ange Postecoglou previously admitting that the Englishman was his number-one target for the summer.
However, Corriere dello Sport do go on to mention in this article that Dovbyk is ‘fascinated’ by the Premier League. Perhaps we could see Spurs reignite their interest in the Roma star in the future.
