Tottenham player is unwilling to downgrade in January despite transfer talks this week

A Tottenham Hotspur man is set to snub the approach of a Serie A club as he is not convinced it would be the right step for him.

Over the last few weeks, an unlikely Spurs star has emerged as one of the most sought-after January signings in Serie A.

We are talking about Radu Dragusin, who only returned to the pitch a week and a half ago after spending nearly the entirety of 2025 on the sidelines with an ACL injury.

Reports indicate that the Spurs defender is wanted by Roma, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Juventus and Napoli. It was also reported previously that Fiorentina were hoping to use Fabio Paratici to lure the Tottenham man to Florence.

Radu Dragusin does not want to swap Tottenham for Fiorentina

According to a new report in Corriere dello Sport, Fiorentina are struggling to complete a deal for the defender.

It is explained that negotiating with Tottenham is not proving tricky for La Viola, but the club are having trouble convincing Dragusin to make the move.

The Romanian is concerned about the fact that Fiorentina are currently sitting in the relegation zone and would ideally prefer to play for a club sitting higher up the table.

This has become a ‘big problem’ for Fiorentina, who are looking to convince the former Genoa man to greenlight a move to the Artemio Franchi Stadium.

Why does Dragusin want to leave Spurs?

According to a recent report in The Daily Mail, Dragusin is keen to play regular football to get his body upto speed after being out of action for 11 months.

The centre-back is thought to be worried he will not get that opportunity at Spurs, and that he could miss 18 months of football without hardly any game time if he remains in North London until the summer.

Dragusin is also attracting interest from Premier League clubs, with Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest keeping tabs on the 23-year-old’s situation.
