Tottenham player labelled ‘outstanding’ for his performance out on loan this week

Clinton Morrison was extremely impressed with the performance that Japhet Tanganga delivered in Millwall’s 2-1 win over Southampton on Saturday.

Tanganga has had a difficult few years owing to a combination of injuries and being overlooked by successive Tottenham managers.

The defender has decided to follow the footsteps of Harry Winks and Joe Rodon by dropping down to the Championship to get his career back on track following an ill-fated loan spell at Augsburg in the first half of the season.

The decision already looks to be a smart one, with the defending having made six appearances since his loan move and seemingly getting better with every game.

Japhet Tanganga is finally thriving out on loan

Tanganga delivered what was arguably his best performance yet at St Mary’s on Saturday as the Lions emerged with a hard-fought 2-1 win.

Not only did the on-loan Tottenham man cope impressively with wave after wave of attack from the home side but he also got on the scoresheet with a fifth-minute header to open the scoring for his side.

Reacting to the 24-year-old’s display, Morrison said on Sky Sports News (4:49 pm, February 24, 2024): “Millwall have defended excellently, and Tanganga has been outstanding, to be fair.”

Spurs Web Opinion

While Tanganga would have ideally liked to have joined a possession-based side at the top end of the Championship table rather than a side like Millwall, who are batting for survival in the division, the defender’s priority would have been to get game time.

He is now certainly getting that at the Den and a number of top-flight clubs would be watching with interest ahead of a potential summer offer for the centre-back.
