Tottenham player ratings from 0-0 draw vs Monaco as 4/10 midfielder wastes his chance

The full-time whistle has blown between Tottenham Hotspur and AS Monaco in the UEFA Champions League, and the player ratings are in.

Below, we have given each Tottenham player a performance rating on a scale of 0-10, with 10 highest score achievable for an impressive performance.

How the Tottenham players rated vs AS Monaco

Guglielmo Vicario – Picked up right where he left off in the first half, once again bailing Tottenham Hotspur out with a string of fine saves. More of the same after the break, commanding and composed throughout. Could easily be handed the Man of the Match award after making eight saves. 9.

Pedro Porro – AS Monaco found it far too easy to get in behind down his flank, combining neatly with one-touch football that often left him out of position. Offered little going forward, with poor crossing from deep and a generally ineffective display. 5.

Kevin Danso – Not a convincing defensive performance as Monaco carved through Tottenham almost at will. Could and should have done better alongside Micky van de Ven. His long throws did provide a rare attacking outlet. 6.

Micky van de Ven – Spurs might have kept a clean sheet, but it owed more to Vicario’s brilliance and Monaco’s wastefulness than the captain’s defensive organisation. The French side found space in behind far too often. 6.

Archie Gray Monaco did not target his side much. Started brightly with overlapping runs and good energy, but faded as the game wore on and possession swung heavily in Monaco’s favour. 6.

Rodrigo Bentancur – Offered little invention on the ball and allowed Monaco to pass through midfield far too easily. Replaced by Pape Matar Sarr early in the second half after another quiet showing. 5.

Joao Palhinha – Showed more aggression after the restart, snapping into tackles and breaking up play with better timing. Looked sharper and far more engaged than in the first half. 7.

Lucas Bergvall A night to forget. Struggled to get into the game and looked off the pace throughout. Withdrawn on the hour mark for Xavi Simons. 4.

Mohammed Kudus – Tottenham looked to counter, but Monaco’s double-marking again stifled him. Rarely beat his man and failed to make a meaningful impact. 5.

Richarlison Back from international duty, but could not make his mark. Managed just one blocked shot all game. Worked hard, but the end product was missing. 5.

Wilson Odobert – Looked bright in the first half, creating two good chances that went begging. Had a shot blocked after the break before being replaced by Brennan Johnson. 6.

Substitues

Pape Sarr – Replaced Bentancur but struggled to influence proceedings as Monaco dominated possession. He created the best chance for Tottenham after Muani’s nice touch found him, and he cut back for Johnson, whose effort lacked conviction. 6.

Xavi Simons – Came on for Bergvall and was too slow in transition, often missing the chance to release quick counter-attacks. 5.

Brennan Johnson – Took Odobert’s place on the left and had a good chance to make it 1-0 following Sarr’s cutback, but he struck straight at the defender. 6.

Randal Kolo Muani – Replaced Richarlison to lead the line late on. Still working his way back to full fitness, and showed glimpses of his quality with some nice touches to bring teammates into the game. 6.

Djed Spence – Introduced for Kudus, with Frank shifting Gray into midfield and Spence slotting in at left-back. N/A.
