Tottenham Hotspur ran riot today at the new stadium as they smashed four goals past Crystal Palace in a rematch from the game that opened the ground.
Let’s take a look at how the players performed today in the North London sun:
Hugo Lloris – 6
Had very little to do, but kept the ball moving well and made a couple of smart stops.
Danny Rose – 7
While on paper it looks as if he didn’t contribute as much as Serge Aurier on the other side, Rose was tasked with marking Zaha today and he did a good job on keeping him relatively quiet.
Jan Vertonghen – 7
Defended well and always looked for a positive and incisive ball forward through the lines. Good to have him back.
Toby Alderweireld – 9
Not only was he a brick wall in defence, but he also set up the opener for Son with a delightful ball and was spraying it around the pitch all day.
Serge Aurier – 8
A brilliant first game back. The surprise addition to the starting XI set up two of the first three goals for Spurs.
Harry Winks – 7
Constantly moving and looking for forward passes through to the likes of Eriksen, Lamela, Son, and Kane.
Moussa Sissoko – 8
Played more aggressive than Winks and broke through the lines time and time again to start attacks and breakaways.
Erik Lamela – 6.5
Lamela was pretty quiet apart from his goal today but always works hard and closes down well. Gives away too many needless fouls though.
Christian Eriksen – 7
Again, not his most active game in terms of goals and assists as the majority of play came down the wings, but he shifted the ball well.
Heung Min Son – 9.5
What a clinical performance from the South Korean today. Scored two and played a part in the breakaway for Lamela’s goal too. Up there with his best games in the Prem for Spurs.
Harry Kane – 8
An underrated performance from Harry today. Not among the goals but he held the ball up well, brought others into play, and assisted Lamela’s goal with a superb cross.
Substitutes –
Tanguy Ndombele – 6
Came on and had some nice moments on the ball, but understandably looked a little rusty too.
Ben Davies – 5
Came on to provide some fresh legs at left-back and to give Rose a rest. Nothing too eventful but good to see him back out there.
Lucas Moura – N/A
