Tottenham’s player ratings vs Manchester United in the Premier League

Guglielmo Vicario: For a player only just returning from injury, Vicario can be proud of his first performance after more than two months. He kept Spurs in the game when United started the second- half with more intent and purpose. Five saves and 0.91 goals were prevented. 8.

Pedro Porro: Porro was less attacking in the second-half and this led to a much better defensive performance in the final 45 minutes, as Garnacho had fewer chances. 7.

Kevin Danso: A clean sheet secured and a good show of his recovery pace to deny Hojlund from going through on goal. It is a performance he can be proud of. 7.5.

Ben Davies: You can’t fault the defence much today as they managed to secure a clean sheet – this makes it back-to-back clean sheet in the Premier League for the first time in a long while. Davies played a role in securing today’s clean sheet. 7.

Djed Spence: By far the best player for Spurs in the second-half. Spence did all. Carried the ball up the field, took on his man, made overlapping runs, inverted into midfield and was defensively solid. It was a complete performance from the full-back. 9.

Rodrigo Bentancur: It was a lot more quiet from the Tottenham midfield in the second-half. Perhaps a result of fatigue – good management from Postecoglou to take off Bentancur when he did. 6.

Lucas Bergvall: Just like Bentancur, Bergvall had a much quieter second-half. However, it was his shot that led to Maddison’s goal. 6.5.

James Maddison: Maddison got the only goal of the tie and got a solid 64 minutes under his belt after just returning from injury. His second-half display was not the best and there was a massive dropoff from what we saw in the first. 7.

Dejan Kulusevski: Dejan Kulusevski’s finishing should have been better. He had a good chance and managed to draw a save from Onana. But as usual, it was a lively and spirited display from the Swede. 6.5.

Mathys Tel: Tel tried his best to get on the scoresheet. He took a match-high seven shots, created one chance, had nine touches in the box, and right at the end, should his touch have been better, he would been in to make it two. A good display that shows what he is all about. 6.

Heung-min Son: In the first-half Son played with a lot of intent and desire, however, in the second-half, his decision-making was not the best at times. His set-pieces were not the greatest, he has played loads of minutes and to be honest we’d take the win. 5.

Subs:

Brennan Johnson: The Welsh international came on after his return from injury in the 64th minute to replace Maddison. It was a good cameo from the winger, who looked to get in behind a United team that was pushing for an equaliser. 5.

Pape Matar Sarr: It was a good move from the manager to bring on Sarr in the second half, especially when United were beginning to get a foothold of the game. The midfield needed energy and freshness and Sarr brought that. 6.

Archie Gray: With Spurs needing to defend a lot more and Danso running his socks off, there was a need for a change. Gray came on and was assured at the back, his performance helped the Lilywhites secure a much needed cleansheet and a win. 6.

Yves Bissouma: Bissouma replaced Bentancur in the 78th minute after the Uruguayan appeared to have taken a knock. N/A.

Wilson Odobert: It was good to see Wilson back on the pitch after a long time away. He replaced Son in the 87th minute and the manager will be pleased to have him back. N/A.
