BBC Sport journalist Simon Stone has revealed that Cristian Romero will not face retrospective punishment for pulling Marc Cucurella’s hair during Tottenham’s 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge.
As is usually the case when Spurs take on Chelsea, the game yesterday afternoon was a high-octane affair with tensions running quite high.
While the match had its fair share of controversial incidents, nothing riled Thomas Tuchel more than Romero pulling Cucurella’s hair ahead of the away side’s stoppage-time equaliser.
Repays showed that the Chelsea defender was brought to the ground by Romero shortly before Harry Kane rose to head home from Ivan Perisic’s corner kick.
Tuchel insisted in his post-match press conference that the goal should have not stood and that the Argentina international should have received a red card for the incident (Hayters TV).
However, Stone has now taken to social media to reveal that Romero will not receive any punishment as VAR checked the incident during the game.

I have enjoyed seeing the Chelsea fans cry about the incident on social media. However, I am quite disappointed with Cristian Romero as his decision would have cost us a point.
The Argentine needs to be able to control his emotions a little better. He also got away with a scissor-type two-footed challenge against Southampton when the result was already in the bag.
While Romero’s antics can be entertaining when results go our way, I fear that the 24-year-old’s behaviour could cost us in an important game down the line.
