Tottenham player’s agent posts photo from Roma headquarters amidst links

Japhet Tanganga’s agent Roberto de Fanti posted an Instagram story from AS Roma’s headquarters on Monday.

Tanganga had a full pre-season with the Tottenham squad after recovering from the knee injury that sidelined him for almost the entirety of the second half of the 2021/22 season.

While the defender did feature in the club’s pre-season friendlies this summer, he was not part of the matchday squad for Spurs’ 4-1 win over Southampton in their Premier League season opener on Sunday.

Until a couple of weeks ago, Tanganga was heavily linked with a move to AC Milan (Football Insider) but it has subsequently emerged that the Rossoneri could turn their attentions to PSG’s Abdou Diallo instead (Gianluca Di Marzio).

Over recent days, a move to Roma has been mooted as a possibility for the Spurs academy graduate, with Calciomercato.it reporting on Sunday that Antonio Conte’s men are willing to use the centre-back as a makeweight in a deal to sign Nicolo Zaniolo.

While reporting on Tottenham’s pursuit of Zaniolo, Monday’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) also stated that we should ‘keep an eye on Tottenham’s Tanganga’, with Mourinho’s men said to be on the lookout for another central defender.

De Fanti has now added further fuel to the speculation by seemingly confirming that he was at the Serie A club’s headquarters on Monday.

Here is what Tanganga’s agent posted on Instagram:

Spurs Web Opinion

This post might have nothing to do with Tanganga as Di Fanti’s agency RDF Football also represents Roma winger Mattia Ruggiero (Transfermarkt). Besides, if he was really at the Italian capital to negotiate a deal for Tanganga, I doubt he would make it public with a social media post.
