Tottenham player’s mother asks everyone to ‘be patient’ with his progress

Radu Dragusin has now been with Tottenham Hotspur for just over a month, and he is yet to start a game for his new club. However, the player’s mother has called for patience, and insists her son will be able to settle in at Spurs.

With Spurs needing extra depth in defence, the club made the move to sign Romanian centre-half Radu Dragusin early on in the January transfer window in a reported £26.7m deal (Sky Sports).

Unfortunately, just as he signed, both Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven returned to full fitness and regained their place in Tottenham’s starting lineup.

As a result, Dragusin has made just three substitute appearances for the Lilywhites, totalling only eight minutes of actual game time (Transfermarkt).

Radu Dragusin’s time will come

We shouldn’t be concerned about the lack of playing time, though. At the Romanian Sports Gala, Dragusin’s mother was asked about her son and she seemed in a positive mood when it comes to what the future holds for the young centre-half.

She said (relayed by Orange Sport): “He has training and is waiting for his turn at Tottenham. Italy is a very beautiful country, but England is also very welcoming. We feel good. Radu has his job there and we hope he’ll settle in.

“What we all have to understand is that Radu is a young footballer in a great team and we have to be patient. It helps him a lot that he comes from an athletic family, but education has been the main pillar in our life.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It’s going to be hard for Dragusin to assert himself in the squad at this point, as Romero and van de Ven are so well-established. But, they will need a rest soon, and his time will come, and I’m sure Dragusin will grab that chance with both hands.
