Tottenham Hotspur have been told they will have to considerably increase their offer to sign Santos youngster Souza.
The 19-year-old had a breakout season in the Brazilian top-flight in 2025, making the left-back spot his own and playing a key role in helping Santos avoid relegation.
The youngster’s displays have caught Tottenham Hotspur’s eye, with reports emerging a couple of days ago that the Lilywhites had their opening offer rejected for Souza.
It has subsequently been confirmed by The Athletic that Spurs’ rejected offer for Souza was worth £8m, with Santos not keen to lose their young talisman.

Santos tell Tottenham how much they need to pay to land Souza
A new report in TEAMtalk has now claimed that despite seeing their opening bid turned down, Tottenham’s determination to land the teenager has not dissipated.
The Lilywhites are continuing to hold talks over Souza and are keen on tying up a deal for the youngster.
Spurs have the most advanced interest in the left-back, with Santos said to value the player at €20m (£17.3m), which is more than double what Tottenham’s opening offer.
However, this high valuation has not scared off the North Londoners, who are continuing to push for a deal.
Spurs face plenty of competition for Souza
TEAMtalk say that Newcastle United are among the clubs who admire Souza, while BlueCo (Chelsea owners) and City Group (Manchester City owners) are also monitoring the situation.
The report claims that the player is also attracting interest from clubs in Spain and Germany, but sources close to the youngster expect him to end up in the Premier League.
However, journalist Ben Jacobs has said that Newcastle will not challenge Spurs for Souza’s signature this month.
