Tottenham prodigy leaves to take on Europe

The saga of Marcus Edwards continues, as the young starlet has now joined the Eredivisie club Excelsior on a season-long loan deal.

Edwards was once tipped as the shining light in the Tottenham academy, and when Pochettino joined, he revelled in his talents, calling him a ‘mini Messi.

Since that point, the young winger hasn’t really be able to fulfil his potential, with streaky performances for the under 21s and complete flops out on loan.

The Englishman was sent back early from Norwich last year, as he failed to make an impact at the club, with rumours that his attitude was an issue.

The 19-year-old has since faded from Poch’s first team plans, with the likes of Skipp, Amos and Eyoma overtaking him as the top dogs of the academy.

Edwards is under contract at Spurs until 2020, but could find that this is his last chance to impress the manager.
