It has been confirmed in the meeting minutes of Tottenham’s latest meeting with the Fan Advisory Board that the club have asked the Haringey Council for permission to install the Bill Nicholson Way Gates at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Bill Nicholson is widely recognised as the biggest legend in the club’s history and is still seen by most fans as Mr Tottenham, having spent his entire playing career at White Hart Lane before going on to manage the club for 16 years.
During his stint as manager, he led the Lilywhites to a league title, three FA Cups, two League Cups, a UEFA Cup and a European Cup Winners Cup, all while playing a brand of champagne football that forever became associated with the club.

The Bill Nicholson gate is hopefully on its way
The famous black gates at the entrance to White Hart Lane are forever linked with Nicholson after this famous photograph in the 1960s. It was announced by the club back in 2015 that the gates will be installed at the new stadium but that has not been done so far.
The club have now confirmed in their meeting with the Fan Advisory Board that they have drafted plans to install it, with the request now set to be progressed through planning with Haringey Council.
If approved, the gates will be installed in the area between the back of Percy House and the Ticket Office.
Spurs Web Opinion
While the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is undoubtedly the best stadium in England, the one thing that it arguably lacks is links to the club’s traditions, with the golden cockerel being the only obvious link to White Hart Lane.
Installing the Bill Nicholson Way Gates would be a great touch by the club and fans will be hoping that a statue of Bill Nic soon follows.
