Tottenham provide update on when Argentine midfielder could return to action

Tottenham Hotspur have now revealed that Erik Lamela could return to action as early as this weekend after missing the recent clash against Brentford.

While Spurs never confirmed why Lamela had been absent from the first-team, his disappearance occurred around the same time he broke lockdown protocols at Christmas.

While the Argentine played six minutes against Wolves on December 27, he did not make the matchday squad for the Premier League games against Leeds days later.

Lamela has played 12 games for Tottenham so far this season, his run in the side interrupted by a calf injury, hence just two goals for the attacking midfielder (TransferMarkt).

Tottenham today revealed on their official website that Lamela ‘may also return’ against Marine in the FA Cup on Sunday, while Giovani Lo Celso remains out injured.

The return of Lamela would be a boost for Mourinho, especially given the fact that Lo Celso is missing and Tanguy Ndombele cannot play every single game.
