Tottenham Hotspur have identified Nathan De Cat as the ideal man to bolster their midfield ahead of next season, but the North London club’s pursuit of the player just got harder.

Spurs’ midfield is likely to see some big changes this summer, with reports suggesting that Yves Bissouma is expected to leave Hotspur Way this summer, while some sources suggest that Joao Palhinha’s future also remains up in the air.

The Lilywhites boast of some extremely talented young midfielders in their squad, with big things expected of the likes of Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall.

The North London club are now looking to add another exciting teenage midfield talent to their squad this summer.

Chelsea and Man City set to challenge Tottenham for Nathan De Cat

Last month, it emerged that Tottenham view Nathan De Cat as the ‘ideal deep-lying playmaker’ for their squad, having been impressed by the youngster in his breakthrough season at Andrelect.

It has been suggested that Spurs are ready to make a £30m offer for the Belgian international, but the Lilywhites’ pursuit is now set to get a lot harder.

According to TEAMtalk, Manchester City and Chelsea are now ‘stepping up their interest’ in De Cat, with both clubs doing ‘detailed background work’ on the 17-year-old ahead of the summer.

With the midfielder having just a year left to run on his contract, he is now attracting plenty of interest ahead of the summer.

Scouts from both the Blues and City have been left hugely impressed by De Cat’s performances and his current development trajectory.

Three other Bundesliga clubs also vying for De Cat

TEAMtalk do mention in their report that other Premier League clubs, including Spurs, have also been tracking the young Belgian over recent months.

However, the interest in De Cat is not restricted to England, with Bayern Munich also said to be ‘particularly keen’ on landing the youngster.

Additionally, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are ‘also firmly in the mix’ for the Andrelect starlet, with both clubs set to continue their well-established strategy of recruiting elite young talent.
