Tottenham receive bittersweet news in pursuit of blistering Jamie Gittens

Tottenham Hotspur have just learned that Jamie Gittens is expected to be on the move this summer, but they may have a big hoop to jump through to land the winger.

Given the nature of the footballing media cycle, it is unsurprising that speculation has already begun about Tottenham Hotspur’s top summer targets even though we are still more than two months away from the transfer window.

One man who has been heavily linked with a move to N17 over recent months is a young English starlet, who is turning a lot of heads in the Bundesliga this season.

Tottenham are thought to be keen on signing Jamie Gittens, whose future at Borussia Dortmund is said to be in doubt.

The winger has scored 11 goals this season for a struggling Dortmund side, with four of those strikers coming in the Champions League, and a fresh report has now shed light on his current situation at Westfalenstadion.

Tottenham receive good and bad news regarding Jamie Gittens

A new report in SportBILD (as relayed by Sport Witness) has now talked up the possibility of the Englishman exiting Dortmund this summer.

The report says that the German club’s ‘sporting failure’ this season could push Gittens out of the exit door, with the likes of Tottenham circling.

The outlet says that many of Dortmund’s top players will leave this summer if the club fail to secure Champions League qualification, with Gittens being one of them.

The report says that the 20-year-old would find it ‘difficult to accept’ remaining at the club if they do not qualify for Europe’s premier club competition.

This potentially poses a problem for Spurs as well as it indicates that they have to secure passage into the Champions League via the Europa League in order to attract Gittens.

How much would Jamie Gittens cost Spurs?

SportBild say that Dortmund wish to hang onto the winger and would be extremely reluctant to allow him to leave this summer.

However, it is explained that the German club would have to sell players in order to raise funds for their transfer targets and may thus have to cash in on Gittens.

The England Under-21 international is not expected to come cheap, with Dortmund not in the mood to accept anything less than €60m (£50.6m) for the youngster.
