Tottenham receive blow as club offer long-term £155,000 deal to prevent transfer

A Brazilian club have made a big move to prevent Tottenham Hotspur from poaching their young starlet in the January transfer window.

Tottenham’s forward line has misfired so far this season, and it appears that the Lilywhites are considering entering the transfer market to solve that problem.

Over recent weeks, it has emerged that Spurs have been scouting a 19-year-old wide-forward who is turning a lot of heads in Brazilian football.

The player in question is Vasco Da Gama starlet Rayan, for whom Tottenham have allegedly explored getting a work permit ahead of a potential January move.

However, we have been hearing over the last couple of weeks that Vasco are working on tying the Tottenham target down to a new contract, and it appears that the Brazilian club are ready to make a bumper offer.

Vasco Da Gama set to offer huge contract to Tottenham target Rayan

According to Lucas Pedrosa from SBT and NewsColina, Vasco are now sorting out the final details ahead of a five-year contract offer to the forward.

The club are determined to keep Rayan at the club, and is willing to give him a bumper salary increase in an effort to tie him down until 2031.

It is claimed that the teenager could be about to receive a new deal worth €180,000 (£155,000) per month, which is huge by the standards of Brazilian football, especially for a player so young.

Tottenham Hotspur and the other European clubs eyeing Rayan could thus face an uphill battle in pushing through a January deal.

Vasco’s pitch to Spurs target Rayan revealed

This update explains that Vasco have told Rayan and his representatives that he should avoid what is called the ‘bounce-back’ effect, which is when young players leave Brazil for Europe too early and struggle to adapt, only to return to the country soon after.

That is what happened with Vitor Roque, and that is something that Vasco want to avoid with Rayan, who they see as a generational talent.

In fact, the club are hoping that the youngster makes it into the Brazil squad for next year’s World Cup while still representing Vasco.

The club have also informed the Tottenham target that they are planning to keep manager Fernando Diniz at the helm so that the forward’s development continues smoothly.
