Journalist Pete O’Rourke has just handed Tottenham some good news and some bad news in their rumoured pursuit of Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford.
A number of reports continue to talk up the possibility of Gugliemo Vicario leaving Tottenham to return to Serie A this summer.
It has been reported by some sources that Man City’s James Trafford is Tottenham’s top target to replace Vicario.
The Spurs target has refused to rule out an exit from Man City this summer after spending the whole campaign as an understudy to Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Newcastle United are favourites to beat Tottenham to James Trafford
It was previously reported a couple of weeks ago that Newcastle are also ready to make a move for Trafford this summer.
Pete O’Rourke has now confirmed that the young goalkeeper is expected to push for a move from the Etihad as he is unhappy with his game time this season.
However, the journalist suggested that the shot-stopper is most likely to end up at St James’ Park, with Eddie Howe’s men having long-term interest in the player.
O’Rourke told Football Insider: “I think obviously we know Newcastle are long-term admirers of James Trafford. They came very, very close to signing him last summer. It looked like he was going to make that move only for Man City to steal in and lure him back to the Etihad Stadium.
“Obviously, Trafford is not too happy that he’s been displaced as number one at City, with Gianluigi Donnarumma coming in. Trafford will want to be playing regularly. He’s admitted that he has been shocked by what has happened to him.
“I’m sure Newcastle have continued to keep tabs on Trafford…they’ll be looking at him as a potential new signing. If Trafford wants to leave City in the summer in search of regular first-team football, there’ll be a number of Premier League clubs who’ll be interested in the England goalkeeper.”
Another Premier League leading Spurs in Trafford race
It is not just competition from the Magpies that Tottenham Hotspur have to be worried about in the race for the England international.
It was reported by Football Insider last month that Aston Villa want to replace Emi Martinez with Trafford this summer.
The same update claimed that Trafford would prefer to join Unai Emery’s side over Tottenham this summer, with the Villans on course to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
