A key official has now shed light on the plans of a Premier League full-back, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Before they can start confidently planning for the summer, Spurs first need to secure their Premier League status and decide on who they are going to appoint as their next permanent head coach.

However, whoever they decide to give the job to, there is no doubt that the squad needs to be significantly strengthened in the summer.

While the midfield and forward line may be prioritised, the Lilywhites may also be looking to put the finishing touches to their backline, and one of their defensive targets may be open to a switch.

Tottenham target Michael Kayode is ready to make the next step

Tottenham are thought to be big fans of Brentford’s Michael Kayode, who has made a huge impression since his switch to the Premier League.

Spurs reportedly failed with a move to poach Kayode last summer before he made a permanent switch to the Bees.

Reports over recent months indicate that the Brentford right-back continues to be on the North London club’s radar.

Andrea Ritorni, who is the head of scouting at Vigo Global Alliance Sport Service, which is the agency that manages Kayode’s affairs, has now suggested that the 21-year-old may be ready to join a bigger club.

When asked about the speculation over the Italy international’s future, Ritorni told FiorentinaNews: “We are very happy with the journey he’s on, which isn’t over yet. With Fiorentina, he took the first step, and now at Brentford, it’s a second phase. We’re aiming to reach the third step, where he’ll be ready for big-time football.”

It has previously been reported that Brentford would demand at least £35m for Kayode this summer.

Do Spurs need a right-back in the summer?

Right-back is unlikely to be one of the areas Tottenham prioritise adding to in the summer, given the other holes in their squad.

In Pedro Porro, Djed Spence, and Archie Gray, Spurs have three competent options for the role, with a new left-back arguably being a bigger priority.

Destiny Udogie has not managed to overcome his injury problems, while Ben Davies’ current deal runs out in the summer. Unless Souza really impresses over the coming months, that is a position that the Lilywhites may want to add to in the summer.
