Tottenham receive surprise enquiry from Flamengo to sign starlet who is already on loan

Flamengo have emerged as a surprise suitor for a Tottenham youngster, with early contact made over a potential move that could prove far from straightforward.

During the last summer transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur secured a loan move for Alejo Veliz to his hometown club Rosario Central, as they looked to get him more game time.

The Argentine has previously had spells in Europe, but those periods were underwhelming, and, since heading back to where it all began, Veliz appears to be finding some form.

However, it is now believed that another club has taken an interest in the 22-year-old, six months after he secured his move to Argentina.

Tottenham see Alejo Veliz attract Flamengo interest

This report comes from Coluna do Fla, who state that Tottenham Hotspur have seen Alejo Veliz return to the South American transfer radar, with Flamengo checking on the striker’s situation ahead of the 2026 season.

It is believed that the Brazilian side has made a formal enquiry about Veliz, who remains under contract at Tottenham and is currently on loan at Rosario Central.

It is explained that Flamengo’s scouting department rates the 22-year-old highly, following his impressive displays last season.

Spurs set to review Veliz situation

While the forward is out on loan, Spurs continue to monitor him closely. The striker has impressed in Argentina, having played 15 league matches and scored five goals, while also providing one assist.

This form is what has caught the attention of Flamengo, who have only made an initial enquiry at this stage, with the Brazilian club yet to submit a formal offer.

However, their approach is understood to have gone directly to Tottenham, who retain control of the player’s future, with Flamengo currently gathering information as Spurs wait to assess the striker once his loan spell reaches its conclusion.
