Tottenham reportedly keeping tabs on young centre back

A report by TeamTalk claims that Tottenham are keeping tabs on young Middlesbrough defender Dael Fry.

The 21-year-old has been in the Middlesbrough side 11 times already this season, keeping an impressive seven clean sheets in that time.

The young defender can play at centre back, or fill in at right back, much like Eric Dier did when he first arrived at Spurs.

Fry is said to be extremely highly regarded, with the likes of Spurs, Celtic, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Bournemouth all interested.

The report also states that Fry is happy where he is at the moment, but a big money bid could change things.

Fry only recently signed a new five year deal at the club.

Spurs may need to invest in some new centre backs sooner rather than later, with Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen in their final year contract-wise at the club.

They both have options to extend for an extra year, the former will be available for £25m in the summer if Spurs choose to extend.

Poch will either need to tie them down to new deals, or bring in some replacements.
