According to Spanish news outlet Marca, Tottenham are rivalling the great Barcelona for the signature of a young playmaker from Gent.

19-year-old Giorgi Chakvetadze has been in great form this campaign, scoring four and setting up two already in just 15 league appearances.

The youngster came through the ranks at Dinamo Tbilisi before securing a move to Gent in 2017.

The teenager is already an international player too, racking up seven caps for Georgia.

Chakvetadze is very highly rated among European clubs, with Spurs and Bournemouth said to be the most interested Premier League parties.

HITC describe him as a skilful and creative playmaker who can transfer his skills either out wide or up top with a superb change of pace.

Pochettino has a good record of developing young talent both at Spurs and his previous club Southampton.

Perhaps he can shine this talented teen into a diamond too.

Good luck spelling that name out when you’re buying your shirts though.

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. Can I just ask EUFA how are the like of these clubs buy any player at any price. Where is the fair play when they are involved. Clubs like Man City, Man U, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus who as of late found some finances from somewhere. I have my doubts if there is a rat involved.

  2. I very rarely comment on posts on here, is there anyone else who feels that it’s fine to keep us all informed of players that we are interested in but I’m a bit fed up with info linking us to every good young player Europe. Last summer’s transfer market was the same, lots of possibles but no action. Great to see the young talent out there but what is needed is some purchasing, tell Joe to get his multi billion cheque book out and start investing in players, they are what will make or break the club. Give Ericsson the deal to secure him, why not? It would cost over 50M to replace him and we don’t ever spend that kind of money
