Tottenham reveal Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg contract details and shirt number after signing

Tottenham Hotspur finally announced the signing of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton this evening, marking their first senior signing of the summer.

The Danish international has been a force in the Saints midfield for the past four seasons, rarely missing a game and racking up 134 appearances (Wikipedia).

Hojbjerg had just one year left on his Southampton contract as the Lilywhites swooped in this summer to cut a deal.

Tottenham revealed that Hojbjerg has signed a contract with the North London club that will run until 2025.

The club also announced that he would be taking the number five shirt for next season, most recently worn by club legend Jan Vertonghen.

Hojbjerg brings with him a wealth of experience and leadership, having been named club captain at Southampton in 2018, as well as playing at Bayern Munich during his younger years.

Spurs Web Opinion:

It will be strange to see the number five on anyone apart from Jan Vertonghen, especially a player who isn’t even a defender, but what a signing Hojbjerg could be for that Tottenham midfield.
