Tottenham Hotspur defeated non-league Marine FC 5-0 on Merseyside last night, with Jose Mourinho naming a strong XI to face the side in the eighth tier of English football.
The FA Cup match represents the largest-ever gap between two sides in the third round of the competition, with 161 places separating them (TalkSport).
Despite losing the match, Marine did get the chance to play against some of Tottenham’s superstars including Gareth Bale, Lucas Moura, Dele Alli and Toby Alderweireld.
It appears that the club were able to take home more than just memories too as Tottenham sent them an array of gifts following the full-time whistle.
Spurs revealed that current COVID-19 guidelines meant that players were banned from swapping shirts after the game.
However, the Lilywhites decided to instead provide a whole set of fresh match shirts as a souvenir of the game to act as a memento of the occasion.
Spurs will find out who they face in the fourth round come in this evening’s draw.
