Tottenham said to be keen on Golden Boy-nominated winger

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Wolfsburg winger Josip Brekalo.

According to Calciomercato, Spurs are interested in the 20-year-old who featured as a half-time substitute in Croatia’s 2-1 defeat to England at Wembley yesterday.

Brekalo is a product of the Dinamo Zagreb youth academy and made his senior debut aged 19 before moving to the Bundesliga.

The left-winger impressed during Croatia Under-21’s Euro qualification campaign where he ended up as his side’s top scorer.

He has also been nominated as one of the 20 finalists for the 2018 Golden Boy award. The prestigious award is decided by sports journalists of whom they think is best young footballer aged 21 that is playing in Europe. 

Previous winners of the award include Wayne Rooney and Lionel Messi.

The Wolfsburg player has scored one goal in eleven appearances this season and has been compared in style to Dutch star Arjen Robben due to his pace and trickery on the left wing.
