Tottenham’s attacking struggles have raised eyebrows this season, and a closer look reveals the staggering number of goal contributions they have lost since last term.
Thomas Frank’s Tottenham Hotspur have struggled for consistency this season, with results often swinging from positive to negative.
Spurs have improved defensively when compared to last season, but up top in attack, they are far from their solid best.
Tottenham have scored 14 goals in the Premier League, and while that has them in the top five for goals scored, the main issue, however, lies in creativity and the frequency of their goal scoring.

Tottenham’s attacking drop-off explained
The build-up play could be much better by Tottenham, but an interesting statistic shows the lack of scoring threat might not entirely be down to Thomas Frank.
Based on the current players in Frank’s squad, statistics show that the Danish manager has lost 86 goal contributions from last season.
Dominic Solanke is injured, and the Englishman contributed 20 goals and assists for Spurs last season. Heung-min Son, who departed this summer, also contributed 23, with the injured James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski contributing 23 and 20, respectively.
When you remove players with those kinds of numbers from any team, a performance drop is inevitable, and that’s precisely what’s impacting Tottenham.
Thomas Frank needs new Spurs attack to deliver
Frank now has to rely on a completely new attacking front line, with Mohammed Kudus, Richarlison and Wilson Odobert.
Of course, these players will need some time to adjust to the manager and his style of play, and that could explain why goals are not coming as frequently.
That, however, is no excuse for Frank, as he has been brought in to improve Spurs’ all-round game, and with Kudus and Xavi Simons signed for over £100 million, one would expect these to step up in the absence of some of last season’s top performers.
