Tottenham send George Abbott on deadline day loan after 13 G/A last season

Tottenham midfielder George Abbott has swapped one League One club for another in the dying stages of the transfer window.

The January transfer window has been a quiet one in terms of first-team incomings and outgoings at Tottenham.

Brennan Johnson was sold to Crystal Palace at the start of the month, while Conor Gallagher and Souza have been the only two players to arrive through the door.

However, a whole host of Tottenham academy players have sealed loan moves this month, and now a 20-year-old has switched clubs in the final hours of the window.

Tottenham youngster George Abbott completes loan move to Mansfield Town

George Abbott joined Wycombe Wanderers on loan in the summer but failed to establish himself as a regular in the starting line-up this term.

He has made just 11 appearances in League One so far this term, and there were reports on Monday morning that the Spurs midfielder could move to another team in the same division.

That has now been confirmed, with Tottenham announcing that Abbott has sealed a temporary switch to Mansfield Town after being recalled from his loan spell at Wycombe earlier this month.

Abbott will join Spurs academy teammate at Mansfield

Abbott will have a familiar face at Field Mill Stadium as Spurs academy winger Oliver Irow completed a loan switch to Mansfield earlier this month.

Irow has already made a fantastic impression at League One club, having scored a brace in their 3-0 win over Port Vale two weeks ago.

Both Mansfield and Tottenham will be hoping that Abbott can also make a similar impact to his academy teammate.
