Tottenham set to abandon bid for £30m star

Could Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino be about to shelve plans for a January bid for Everton midfielder Ross Barkley?

The 23-year-old star made it clear he saw his future away from Merseyside and indeed looked set for a deadline day move to Chelsea. There were claims he was halfway through a medical before a change of heart – claims denied by the player and the club.

That then cleared the way for Spurs to potentially launch a £30m January bid for the player.

However, reports this morning from ESPN via The Daily Mirror seem to suggest Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino could be set to abandon plans for a winter window bid for Barkley due to the current form of Frenchman Moussa Sissoko.

Mauricio Pochettino believes the previously derided Moussa Sissoko has improved considerably and negates the need for Barkley.

Do you agree with the sentiments Tottenham fans? Would Mauricio Pochettino be best served giving Sissoko a chance to prove himself over the course of a season or if there is a chance to sign Barkley, is it too good of an opportunity to walk away from?
