Tottenham set to announce second surgery in a week in yet another injury blow

Tottenham Hotspur have now confirmed a second surgery in a week following yet another long-term injury blow.

Tottenham Hotspur continue to deal with an injury crisis that has left their squad severely depleted in recent weeks.

Ahead of the Burnley clash, Thomas Frank confirmed yet another blow, with Lucas Bergvall now injured and sidelined for an extended period.

The young Swede is expected to spend two to three months out after injuring his ankle and could miss as many as 18 matches for Tottenham.

Tottenham confirm Lucas Bergvall surgery after injury setback

The Sun have now confirmed that Lucas Bergvall is expected to undergo surgery on his ankle after injuring it against Borussia Dortmund.

Bergvall had the joint stood on during Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League and now runs the risk of missing the rest of the season.

The 19-year-old has become the second surgery Tottenham have confirmed in just a week, as injuries continue to pile up.

It was revealed earlier in the week that Ben Davies underwent surgery following the leg injury he suffered against West Ham United.

Spurs injury crisis deepens as absences mount

Many Spurs fans will be hoping Bergvall can return to full fitness as soon as possible, as the youngster, who was player of the season last campaign, has struggled to find rhythm with knocks here and there.

Dominic Solanke was the last to suffer a similar ankle issue earlier in the campaign, forcing the striker to undergo minor surgery, only for him to spend six months sidelined.

Last season’s injury problems have once again crept back despite wholesale changes to the medical department, with the number of Spurs players currently sidelined now up to seven.
