Tottenham sink to worrying low in latest supercomputer prediction after Bournemouth defeat

It has not been a good start to 2026 for Tottenham, with the defeat against Bournemouth hitting the Lilywhites hard.

The draws against Brentford and Sunderland were frustrating enough, but losing to Bournemouth in midweek has been a real hammer blow for Tottenham and Thomas Frank.

Spurs are sitting in 14th place going into the FA Cup weekend, and fans have already starting suggesting who could replace Frank in the dugout.

There’s still a long way to go this season, but it’s not looking good for anyone associated with the club right now. Judging by the latest supercomputer update, it’s not going to get much better, either.

Spurs drop two places in Opta’s latest prediction

As per Opta’s supercomputer, Tottenham are now projected to finish 12th place this season with a tally of 50 points.

That’s two places and one point lower than last week’s prediction for Spurs. What’s worrying is that outfits like Fulham and Crystal Palace have now leapfrogged the Lilywhites after the latest round of games.

Given the struggles of those two teams, you’d hope Spurs can outdo them in the long-run, but Opta clearly doesn’t think so.

Even more concerning is the fact that the supercomputer now gives Tottenham just a 0.87% chance of qualifying for the Champions League this season. That’s dropped from the 1.7% odds they were given prior to the Bournemouth game.

Top-half finish may be all Tottenham can muster

At this stage, Tottenham will be lucky to finish in the top half of the Premier League table come the end of the season.

It’s worth noting Spurs are still only four points behind Chelsea, and five behind both Man United and Newcastle. However, given the form Frank’s men are in, do we really believe they can make up that ground?

Getting into the top five — which should be enough for Champions League qualification — feels like a real stretch now. Sure, finishing 12th and getting 50 points would be a big improvement on last year’s 17th spot and 38-point haul, but we expect so much more from Tottenham.
