Dejan Kulusevski has admitted that Cristian Romero is his new favourite player after the pair linked up in North London last season.
Romero has had a fabulous first year in the Premier League following his move from Atalanta last summer.
While centre-backs tend to take some time to get adjusted to the pace and intensity of the English top-flight, the Argentina international had no such problems.
The 24-year-old’s aggression and reading of the game made him a nightmare for forwards to play against, with Jamie Carragher even picking the centre-back as his signing of the season (Sky Sports).
Another player who was arguably a contender for the same accolade was Kulusevski, despite only arriving at Spurs in January.
The Swede, who has also hit the ground running in North London, would have been aware of Romero’s exploits in the Serie A but he seems to have developed a greater appreciation for the centre-back after having watched him in close quarters at Spurs.
Kulusevski was wearing an Argentina shirt with Romero’s name on the back in his appearance on the Swedish YouTube channel Anis Don Demina.
The 21-year-old said in the interview: “Romero is my new favourite player that’s why I have his shirt on.”
When asked why the former Atalanta was his favourite player, Kukusevski responded: “If you see him play you will understand, he is incredible!”

The biggest praise that players can get is usually from their peers, who watch them in training every. From the way the Tottenham players talk about Romero, it is evident that we have a world-class talent on our hands, who could become one of the best in the world over the coming years.
