Tottenham Hotspur are now without a win in five Premier League matches, and have only won three out of twelve all season in the competition.
The club sit all the way down in the bottom half of the table in 14th place and on just 14 points, far below what was expected of the team at the start of the season.
Half a year ago, Spurs made the Champions League Final, before breaking their transfer record to bring in Tanguy Ndombele in the summer window.
Spurs were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by League Two side Colchester United, and have already been beaten in the league by Newcastle, Brighton, Leicester, and Liverpool, dropping points to countless more.
Most recently, Spurs threw away 1-0 leads against both Everton and Sheffield to draw both games 1-1.
Harry Winks has now admitted that Spurs are a bigger target for clubs now and that the team has not handled that pressure well.
He said (Standard): “We are a bigger target now, we know that. We came into the season knowing they’d be more pressure and expectation on us, and it’s about how we deal with that. We haven’t dealt with it well enough but there’s a long season ahead still.
“Every time a team comes here it’s their cup final, they want to beat us. It’s a nice stadium to come to, it’s an opportunity to put one on one of the big teams. Every team wants to beat us. It’s important that we fight, first and foremost, for the right to play and to create chances, win. That’s our first priority. It’s not going the way we want but our fallback is always to go out there and fight.
“It’s important to avoid looking at the table. We’ve got to take it game by game, get these wins back and start trying to climb the table. We can’t look too far into the future, the games have happened, we’ve just to build up and get ready for the next game.
“It’s frustrating. Sheffield United have a lot of energy but ultimately we’ve got to win and we’ve got to take our chances when we make them.”
