Tottenham star explains why he rejected Man Utd’s approach

Tottenham forward Lucas Moura has had a fantastic season for the Lilywhites, scoring 15 goals in all competitions so far. It was the Brazilan’s sensational second-half hat-trick that helped Spurs overcome Ajax and book a place in the final.

The 26-year-old is finally getting the limelight he deserves after being on the fringes towards the end of his time with Paris Saint-Germain.

Before Moura moved to PSG, Lucas has revealed in the past that Manchester United were interested in signing him from Sao Paulo (Four Four Two)

Sir Alex Ferguson even conveyed his dismay at the price PSG were paying for the Brazilian, back when he was just a teenager (Give Me Sport)

The Brazilian international has now revealed that the Red Devils made another approach for him 15 months prior to his move to Tottenham.

However, the pacey attacker revealed that he rejected Manchester United’s approach since they only wanted him on loan.

Speaking to The Guardian, Moura said, “There was a conversation with United but it was for a loan and I didn’t want a loan. I thought that if I left PSG, I didn’t want to go back.

“When I came to Tottenham, and I saw the training ground and met the coach, I said that I wanted to come here.”

It is certainly fortunate for Tottenham that Moura decided to snub the move to United as his contributions have been vital during this sensational Champions League campaign.

However, we at Spurs Web feel Lucas Moura will be the unlucky one to miss out on a starting spot in the final against Liverpool.
