Tottenham star is dangerously close to a suspension ahead of North London derby

One senior Tottenham Hotspur man is now just one yellow card away from serving a one-match suspension in the Premier League.

The injury problems keep mounting for Thomas Frank’s men, with Randal Kolo Muani becoming the latest to be ruled out for six to eight weeks after fracturing his jaw against Man United.

Kolo Muani is now one of 11 Spurs players on the treatment table, but the situation is expected to improve shortly, with several players due to return after the international break.

However, Tottenham are now at risk of losing one of their most important players to a suspension.

Tottenham captain Cristian Romero is one yellow card away from a suspension

Players who pick up five yellow cards on or before gameweek 19 will have to serve a one-match suspension.

According to the Premier League website, Cristian Romero is now on four yellow cards after entering the referee’s notebook against Man United.

That means the Argentine is now walking a tight rope for the next eight matches, starting with the North London derby on November 23.

Mohammed Kudus, Joao Palhinha and Kevin Danso are on three yellow cards each, which means they can each afford just one more caution for the next eight league matches if they want to avoid a suspension.

Romero’s absense is now manageable problem for Spurs

The good news is that Romero will be playing in the North London derby, assuming he comes through the international break unscathed.

It is a near certainty that the Argentine will pick up a yellow card within the next eight games, and Thomas Frank will be hoping that he does not end up missing a big fixture.

However, Kevin Danso performed admirably during Romero’s injury absence last month, and Frank can rest easy in the knowledge that he has sufficient cover for his captain.
