Tottenham star labels Barca clash as must-win game

Tottenham extended their winning streak to three games in all competitions this weekend with an impressive 2-0 away win against Huddersfield.

Meanwhile, Spurs’ next opponent, the giants Barcelona, are on a contrasting three game winless streak, after drawing two and losing one in their league.

Barcelona won their first Champions League tie against PSV with a resounding 4-0 victory, while Spurs gifted two late goals to Inter Milan to drop all three points in theirs.

Spurs will need a win to join Barca on 3 points in the group, and to kickstart their European campaign.

Tottenham will be confident at Wembley, having dispatched Real Madrid there 3-1 last season, however Pochettino will be without a number of first team stars.

The likes of Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen, Hugo Lloris, Jan Vertonghen and Mousa Dembele are all thought to be doubtful for the game.

However, Tottenham left back Danny Rise has still labelled the match as a must win.

SkySports report that Rose said: “It’s a massive game. We have to win. We’re fully aware of that. We’re all bitterly disappointed from how the Milan game finished and no mistakes, we have to win on Wednesday.

“We went to the Bernabeu and were unlucky not to win that game and then when we played them at Wembley we outplayed them, and not just them, Dortmund as well.

“We’ve proved that we can do it. At the minute we’re winning ugly and we’re just waiting for the performance to go with the victories.”

On a personal note, Rose said: “I’m just happy to be playing. It’s probably something I didn’t expect four or five weeks ago. I’m just happy I’m in a position to be selected and I want it to continue.”
