Tottenham star makes talkSPORT’s worst XI of the season

Tottenham Hotspur have had a very mixed season. They were once in a title race alongside Liverpool and Manchester City, but a dismal second half of their Premier League season has left the north London side fighting for a top-four finish which once looked all but secured.

Many players have not been able to replicate the form of previous seasons, with pundits and fans across the country being particularly disappointed in Kieran Trippier.

The Tottenham Hotspur full-back now slots into the right-back position in talkSPORT’s worst 11 of the season to cap off his nightmare campaign. (talkSPORT)

The 28-year-old is known for his exceptional crossing and free-kick ability, with many tipping him to replicate his form from the 2018 World Cup, but poor defending and horrific mistakes has put him into a team full of the worst performers.

The rest of the team includes Asmir Begovic, Shkodran Mustafi, Terence Kongolo, Gaitan Bong, Nemanja Matic, Mateo Kovacic, Fred, Alexis Sanchez, Junior Hoilett and Laurent Depoitre.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I believe that you can’t look past the mistakes that Trippier has made which has cost us points within the season. However, we have not been able to find a right-back that can play every week with Serge Aurier being injured and putting in satisfactory performances and Kyle Walker-Peters perhaps is too inexperienced. I would not mind seeing Kieran Trippier being given a second chance next season to put things right but signing a new right-back in the summer transfer window is a necessity.
