A Tottenham Hotspur youngster, who continues his rise in North London, has just been shortlisted for one of the most prestigious awards in football.
There has been plenty of debate regarding Thomas Frank’s selections in the middle of the park this season, with some Tottenham fans raging that one youngster is not starting regularly.
The player in question is Pape Sarr, who has even been deemed the most underrated player in the Premier League by some pundits.
In fact, many are convinced that Sarr is going to be a mainstay in Tottenham’s midfield for a very long time, and the 23-year-old has now been nominated for a huge honour.

Tottenham’s Pape Sarr nominated for African Player of the Year award
The former Metz man has now made the eight-man shortlist to be named the 2025 African Player of the Year.
Apart from his exploits for Tottenham Hotspur, the midfielder has become a crucial part of the Senegal side, having already been capped 35 times for his country.
He has now been named among some illustrious names for the prestigious honour, which has previously been won by some of the biggest names in world football, including Sarr’s international teammate, Sadio Mane.
However, some Spurs fans may be frustrated that despite Sarr’s award-nominated year and his promising early-season form, Thomas Frank still isn’t selecting the Senegal midfielder to start games.
Who is Sarr competing against for the African Player of the Year award?
The Tottenham man is one of just three Premier League players to make the eighth-man shortlist, joining Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah and Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye, who is his Senegal teammate.
While Sarr may not be the favourite to win the award, the fact that he has been named alongside some of the best players across the continent shows how quickly the Spurs man’s stock is growing.
