Tottenham star named Premier League Player of the Week by WhoScored

WhoScored have handed Son Heung-min the best rating of any player in Matchweek 5, with the Tottenham man scoring a whopping 9.5 out of 10.

Son was moved back to his more natural left-wing role by Ange Postecoglou against Newcastle and that decision proved to be a masterstroke as the winger was at his electric best.

The Tottenham captain turned back the clock by playing with the sort of dynamism and aggression that we saw from him a few years ago, giving his former Spurs teammate, Kieran Trippier, a torrid time.

Son created both of the home side’s first-half goals with enterprising play down the left before converting from the penalty spot in the second half to round off the scoring for the Lilywhites.

Heung-min Son is the PL Player of the Week

The 31-year-old finished with four key passes and three successful dribbles, thus clinching the Whoscored Player of the Week award.

Two other Tottenham players also made Whoscored’s Team of the Week, with Pedro Porro being handed a rating of 8.39 while Richarlison, who netted a double, got 8.85.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Son might perhaps not be as quick as he once was, he is still quite good in one-on-one situations and is an exceptional crosser of the ball. I expect Ange to persist with the South Korean on the left as he is certainly a lot more involved in the game in that role rather than as a number nine.
