Tottenham star now has an embarassing yellow card statistic to his name

The Sun have quite astonishingly revealed that Richarlison has been booked more times for celebrating goals in the Premier League than he has actually scored goals this season.

It has been a season to forget for Tottenham, who now look certain to miss out on the top four.

While almost every single player at the club has had a disappointing campaign, one can argue that Richarlison might be the one who has fallen short of expectations the most.

The forward was expected to add more firepower to the Spurs frontline after completing a £60m move from Everton but it took him until Sunday’s game at Liverpool to net his first Premier League goal for the Lilywhites.

Richarlison celebrated the goal by taking his shirt off before shushing the home crowd at Anfield, with the Tottenham man being booked for the celebration.

The Sun remind us that this is not the first time that the Brazilian has been booked for celebrating as he also received a yellow card for taking his shirt off in the win over Fulham back in September.

The forward thought he had scored his first Premier League goal for Spurs against the Cottagers but VAR ruled out the goal for offside.

That means that Richarlison has been cautioned more times for celebrating goals than he has actual goals to his name in the league this season.

Spurs Web Opinion

Despite Richarlison’s poor goal return this season, he is one player I do not have any concerns about.

I am confident that he would prove his worth over the coming years and the Brazilian is likely to be an important player in any system that the next manager employs, given his versatility.
