Tottenham star picks up injury on international duty

It has been a tough 2019 so far for Tottenham’s Eric Dier. Since early December, Dier has been in and out of the Spurs squad through a mixture of problems.

Dier first underwent surgery to have his appendix removed, before spending some time on the side lines to recover.

The England midfielder then picked up nasty bout of tonsillitis in the new year, meaning he was still unable to make a return.

After multiple illnesses, Dier finally made a return to the starting Spurs team against Southampton in the 2-1 loss earlier this month.

Despite a lack of football, Gareth Southgate named Dier in his England squad for the March EURO 2020 qualifiers.

Dier was a hero for the national team back in the 2018 World Cup when he scored the winning penalty against Colombia in a dreaded shootout.

Dier started tonight against the Czech Republic at Wembley, but failed to last more than 17 minutes before being forced off injured.
