Tottenham star posts seemingly positive injury update on social media

Steven Bergwijn took to Instagram this week to seemingly hint that his return from injury would not be too far away.

The Netherlands winger posted a photo of himself playing against Wolves earlier in the season, accompanied by an egg-timer emoji.

Bergwijn posted an image of his foot in a protective boot a week ago and the Spurs wide man has not been seen on the pitch since.

After this post, Nuno told the press (Spurs’ official website): “He has an injury on his foot, a sprain, he twisted his ankle and it’s very painful. The decision was to protect his foot and at the same time keep doing upper body workouts to try to stay as fit as possible.”

Last we heard from Nuno, just before the Europa Conference League game against Mura, he revealed that both Bergwijn and Ryan Sessegnon were still out injured.

Bergwijn has missed four Premier League games through injury so far, although he now has a full international break to regain his fitness.

If his latest Instagram post is anything to go by, we could see him out on the turf again before long, which would surely be music to Nuno Espirito Santo’s ears.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Bergwijn’s return would be a huge boost to the squad, as Nuno currently only has one first-team winger in reserve each week. The Dutchman was also in great form before the injury so I am excited to see him back out there.
