Tottenham star says he will ‘never stop fighting’ for Ange Postecoglou

Pape Matar Sarr has said that he will not stop fighting for Ange Postecoglu and remarked that he wants to repay the faith that the Australian has shown in him.

Sarr found game time hard to come by under Antonio Conte last season. Even when the 21-year-old came into the starting eleven and impressed against AC Milan in the Champions League, he went back to being a bench warmer when everyone was fit, with the Italian seemingly not trusting him.

However, Postecoglou has done just the opposite, showing enormous faith in the Sarr from day one and the Senegal international has certainly delivered, often outperforming his more experienced midfield partners.

Pape Matar Sarr will keep fighting for Postecoglou

The former Metz man confessed that he owes a great deal to the 58-year-old and that he will always be grateful for giving him a platform to showcase his skills.

Sarr told Sky Sports: “He’s helped me in every aspect of my game. He’s shown a lot of faith and confidence in me and that is particularly important because last year I wasn’t playing so much.

“For that reason, I will never stop fighting for him out on the pitch and never stop fighting for my team to make sure I don’t betray the trust he has put in me because it means a lot to me. I thank him enormously for that.”

Tottenham’s season looks set to peter out once again, with Champions League qualification now looking beyond the Lilywhites.

However, Sarr insisted that he and his teammates remain motivated to finish the campaign strongly and to take some momentum into the next campaign.

The midfielder added: “The most important this is to win all our matches. If we win all our matches, we’ll finish high enough. Our objective now is to win all our matches and finish as high as we can.

“The aim is absolutely to win these matches. We have to win our remaining matches to finish this season in the best way possible. Next season will also be here before you know it and if we can manage to put a few wins on the bounce together, that will put us in the best position possible for next year.”

Spurs Web Opinion

One certainly cannot accuse the players of not working hard enough or not wanting to play for Postecoglou. Our poor performances over recent months are not down to a lack of effort or belief but rather due to the fact that opposition teams have now figured out how to stifle our system.
