Tottenham star speaks after award winning performances

Yesterday, Tottenham winger Lucas Moura was named Player of the Month in the Premier League for the month of August.

This marks the Brazilian’s first start to a season in a Spurs shirt after his £23m transfer from PSG in January.

Pochettino choose not to use the winger much in his first season, instead opting to use the time to bed him into the squad and English way of football. Moura actually only played 72 minutes last campaign.

However, he’s off to a flyer this year, scoring three goals in his first three games. Moura curled in a delightful effort to get things going at home to Fulham, before smashing in two against Manchester United.

The winger had this to say after receiving his award: “It’s difficult to explain how I’m feeling at the moment,” Lucas said.

“I’m so happy because I know it’s not easy to win this trophy and it was a great month for me and also for the team.

“I don’t have much to say but thanks to God and to share this with my team-mates and with my family, and to keep working because this is only the beginning. We have a lot more in front of us so I need to keep working and doing my best.”

Moura will be looking to continue his fine form against Liverpool when the Premier League commences again on the 15th of September for Spurs.

Liverpool and Spurs are both tipped to challenge for the title this season, and a big three points at home would lay down a marker for the North London club.

Tottenham definitely need to make another statement after their shock defeat to Watford last time out.
