Tottenham star wins Europa League Player of the Week award

Carlos Vinicius has been voted the Europa League Player of the Week after he scored a brace in Tottenham’s 4-0 win over Ludogorets on Thursday.

All of the Brazilian’s starts for Spurs this season have come in the Europa League and it was not surprising to see him come into the XI again yesterday, with Harry Kane rested ahead of the London derby against Chelsea on Sunday.

The striker got off the mark at the club with a well-taken goal in the 16th minute as he latched on the Dele Alli’s deflected through ball and confidently stroked it into the net.

He doubled his tally for Tottenham on 34 minutes with Alli once again playing a key part in the goal. The midfielder squared the ball for Vinicius to tap in after the Ludogorets goalkeeper, Plamen Iliev pushed away Tanguy Ndombele’s drive.

Apart from his goals, Vinicius also put in a typically industrious display and was involved in some neat link-up play with the likes of Lucas Moura, Gareth Bale and Alli.

The 25-year-old has now deservedly picked up the Player of the Week Award and will be hoping to kick on from here and make a real impact when he is called upon.

Harry Winks also joined the Benfica loanee in the Europa League Team of the Week.
