Tottenham starlet Dane Scarlett nets brace for England Under-19s

Dane Scarlett netted a brace for the England Under-19s who kicked off their UEFA European Championship qualifying campaign with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Andorra yesterday.

There is plenty of excitement at Spurs surrounding Scarlett, who signed his first professional contract with the North London club back in March.

The 18-year-old, who made his senior debut for the Lilywhites last season, has been handed a couple of opportunities in the Europa Conference League this campaign.

The Spurs academy starlet was one of the stars of the show as England Under-19 eased past Andorra on Wednesday.

Juventus’ Sam Iling-Junior opened the scoring midway into the first half before Aston Villa midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka put them 2-0 ahead just ahead of half-time.

Scarlett put the result beyond doubt by scoring ten minutes into the second half. The Tottenham man then stepped up to put away the spot-kick after Villa midfielder Aaron Ramsey was brought down in the box 11 minutes later.

Scarlett’s England Under-19 will now take on Switzerland on Saturday before finishing their group against the hosts Sweden on Tuesday.

Spurs Web Opinion

I cannot see Scarlett getting too many opportunities in the Europa Conference League or the preliminary rounds of the FA Cup now that Conte is in charge as the Italian will certainly take all competitions seriously.

So, the 18-year-old could be better of going out on loan out to a League One or League Two club in January rather than continuing to play for the Under-23s.
