Tottenham star’s goal in contention for UEFA award

Tottenham produced a fantastic performance last week to thrash Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund 3-0 at Wembley. The result means that Spurs now have one foot in the last 8 of the Champions League.

The first half was a pretty cagey affair as both teams weren’t willing to commit too many players forward, with the away side arguably shading it.

However, Tottenham came out and pressed their opponents higher up the pitch in the second half, and Dortmund had no answers.

Heung-Min Son opened the scoring for Spurs soon after the interval before late strikes from Jan Vertonghen and Fernando Llorente ensured that Dortmund had a mountain to climb in the second leg.

Son’s goal has now been nominated for the UEFA Goal of the Week award. The goal was a result of some great pressing and combination play down the left-hand side.

When Dortmund gave the ball away, Eriksen played a quick forward pass to Moura who cushioned it into Vertonghen on the left-flank.

The defender then looped in a brilliant ball to find Son who made a smart run to escape the defender and guided it on the volley into the top corner.
