Tottenham striker issues injury update to fans

Just a week after being stripped of the number nine jersey, Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen has updated fans on his recent surgery.

Following a niggling injury, Janssen and the Spurs medical team decided that it was best for the Dutch forward to undergo minor foot surgery.

This comes after it seemed nailed on for the player to transfer away from North London, perhaps to Fenerbache where he spent the campaign on loan last season.

However, following the injury, it looks as if Janssen will now stay at Tottenham to carry out rehabilitation, and to be part of the squad until January at least.

But will he get his number nine shirt back?

The promising 24-year-old updated fans today in regard to his injury and his near-future.

“For all the fans, I would like to update you about my current situation,” he said on his Instagram account.

“As you have probably noticed, last season at Fenerbahce I have been out for a while due to an injury.

“I have played the last matches of that season despite the pain I felt in my foot. Together with the great medical team at Spurs, we made the decision to go in surgery.

“The surgery yesterday was successful!!

“The next period will be in the light of becoming fit and stronger than ever. I will put all the effort in I’ve got!

“I can’t wait to be back at the pitch again.”

Janssen has only scored two goals in 27 appearances for the Lilywhites, but does he deserve another chance in North London?
